Good point. You win. However, I just went back and re-read this whole thread, and while I have made one insult (sorry), you've made a rash of them.

Where did i say we should design chips or boycott Apple? Now you're just liying and it's no wonder you have come to your conclusions, considering you fabricate things like this.

Whoever said that was hard to understand? Not me!
This is a big problem (and has been for 30+ years)...that everything we buy in the USA is made somewhere else...USA no longer manufactures except for our junky USA cars.
Sure...at some point when this all started decades ago, it WAS cheaper to build certain things outside the US...but then everyone got on the bandwagon and now it's the norm. (Thanks politicians!)
The "it's cheaper to build outside the US!" is a bogus argument and has become an evil of our own doing.
If it costs X to build in the US, please don't tell me it costs 1/10th of X to build, import, pay taxes, blah blah blah, to get it back into your company's hands.
We can all agree that some things, yes, are easier and/or cheaper to build outside the US for a variety of reasons. Our USA system needs some serious overhauls to get stuff to be built back in the US other than screws and toilet paper.
You are still not getting it. It does cost a fraction to build things outside the US.
The US minimum wage is $8.25 per hour in many states. The minimum wage in a country like the Philippines is about $0.71.
Because of labor unions and their regulations, a manufacturer typically needs to pay significantly above minimum wage anyway, PLUS benefits like health insurance cost way more. In the Philippines (which I bring up because I employ people there) health care cost about $10 per worker per month. Here in the US it can cost several hundred.
Payroll taxes are no picnic either. Typically, in the US the total cost of hiring a worker when you factor in payroll, admin, benefits, etc. is that worker's salary + 25%.
Labor is one of the biggest expenses any company has. Manufacturing requires a lot of labor too. You need people to operate machines, fix machines, load products, even assemble certain items by hand in some cases.
So you can easily do the math. Where in one country you can get people for a dollar an hour to work and in other you get them for $10-$12 an hour, clearly the cost to operate in expensive country is 10x as much. That means you have to raise your prices that much more.
Now all total manufacturing expenses aren't 10x more, since raw materials will typically cost the same anywhere in the world and there are some overhead expenses as well, but that labor difference is still huge when you consider a company like FoxConn that has 920,000 employees.
Moving to the US would mean they would effectively have labor costs as if they were hiring 10 million employees instead of 1 million. You can't say that wouldn't make them raise their prices several fold to compensate for that.
You can run the math yourself based on their number of employees, average wages in China, average wages in the US and their profit margins.
Anyone who thinks it costs the same or only slightly more to produce here is living in a dream world.

Staying away from the traditional rangefinder lens deign did not make the lens thinner, it just allowed the extra room to clear out the mirror swing but the les had to get bigger and protrude more. It is like saying "no need to make the phone thicker, just make the lens stck out!" which obviously isn't really an attractive solution - it was done one a few years ago and didn't fare all that well.
I wasn't proposing the same solution, merely an observation on the statement:
"You are limited by the focal length, which is dictated by the thickness of the device. There is no magic way around this."
For example: with the various adapters to use 35mm lenses on 4/3rds format some include elements to accommodate different registration distances.
i.e. you're neither limited by the focal length; nor is the focal length dictated by the device. Is that not so? Could you not employ a nice aspherical positive element to take advantage of a larger sensor without "just making the lens stick out"? (ref his original link to DPReview article on Focal Length).

Back in the final days of Logic Pro 7 I was considering buying it. It was incredibly powerful but really deep and with a clunky GUI to boot. My procrastination paid off.
Within months Logic Pro 8 came out and they simplified the GUI to be like GarageBand (and oh how all the "Pros" did moan...but only for awhile) and cut the price from $999 to $499. I jumped on it and never looked back.
And now the same sort of thing is happening to FCP. All the power (fingers crossed) but with a much better GUI (yes, sort of like iMovie but only on the surface....just like with Logic Pro and Garageband).
Jumping into this will be a no-brainer for me whereas with the old FCP I would have never "bit".
Give the "Pros" time to come around. A lot of the resistance evaporates over time. Yes, there are actually some people who like difficult programs because then they join the "priesthood" of "those in the know" and get all puffed up.
"BUT BUT BUT...IT LOOKS...DIFFERENT!!!!"
I WON'T BUY IT....I WON'T BUY IT....I WON'T I WON'T I WON'T.

Android Phone Specs are out pacing the Iphone. An 8 Megapixel camera, bigger screen and more memory will keep me buying. IOS 5 with the rumored adobe flash would be great too.
Except the 8mp on every single Andriod phone I've seen produces significantly worse images than the iPhone. ESPECIALLY in low light.

To offer hardware at the same time as WWDC mixes the message to developers and (mostly) to the world at large -- unless, UNLESS it deals with something that developers need to know -- the iPhone 4 was announced during WWDC 2010 for one BIG REASON --> Retina Display.
WWDC 2003: PowerMac G5, iLife.
WWDC 2004: 23 and 30 inch cinema displays, iTunes 4.9
WWDC 2006: Mac Pro
WWDC 2008: iPhone 3G
WWDC 2009: iPhone 3GS, 13 inch MacBook Pro, and bumps to the 15/17 Pros.
WWDC 2010: iPhone 4
There is a lot of precedent for hardware and software announcements at WWDC, including a lot of stuff that doesn't directly impact developers. It's a big media event, and Apple saves on throwing two events close together in the summer by announcing things at WWDC.

HTC & LG, not to mention Nintendo...It's time Apple! No blu-ray, so Apple will be 3D Gods!
HTC and LG have the factory space to try and compete, so they do.
Nintendo makes products for 6 year old girls.
Apple is not interested in what is today known as "3D" which is just two out of focus images hurting your eyes.

A child does not naturally grow up to be socially responsible or kind. They naturally grow up to be self-centered and violent unless a parent or authority teaches them otherwise.
As negative as I think religion can be, it has set a code of conduct for people that enables cooperation and empathy for others.
Sorry, that is utter crap. My best friend in grade school was raised completely without religion, and he is the nicest person in the world. Meanwhile, there are copious and abundant examples of self-centered, amoral, greedy bastards preaching jesus to the masses: if religion cannot help them, what value is it?

OK, so their inital aim was implicitly to get in-the-face of smug Mac users. And then Apple "leans" on them, so they go all nicey-nice and 'decide' to a USB wifi card instead? Doesn't this seem slightly odd to anyone else?

RCR Wireless (http://unplugged.rcrwireless.com/index.php/20110503/devices/8804/hot-rumor-apple-ipad-3-to-be-fully-3d/) claims to have multiple sources telling it that Apple is planing on incorporating 3D technology ino the next generation iPad. “The fact that the iPad 3 is 3D is a dead cert,” one Hollywood insider close to the big movie studios told RCR, adding that the screen would be the real magic. She went on to say that the big film studios were currently running around like blue arsed flies trying to gear up to release plenty of 3D content in time for Apple’s next launch.Besides this "Hollywood insider", they also cite sources from iPad manufacturer Foxconn about the 3D plans.
We're not sure about the reliability of these sources, but Apple has clearly been exploring 3D technology over the years as evidenced by numerous (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/12/11/apple-exploring-3d-desktop-and-application-interfaces/) patent (http://www.macrumors.com/2008/03/20/apple-researching-3d-stereoscopic-displays/) applications (http://www.macrumors.com/2009/12/17/apple-working-on-3d-hyper-reality-displays/). Not all this research has been in the typical 3D technology found in recent movies and television sets. Some of the research has been in pseudo-3D technologies that involve head tracking that was effectively demoed (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/11/head-tracking-allows-glasses-free-3d-on-ipad/) in a recent iPad app. 3D, of course, has also been a big recent trend with the release of many 3D TVs, 3D movies, and Nintendo's 3DS handheld gaming console.
Also interesting is that this isn't the first time this has been suggested. Earlier this year, Japanese blog Macotakara (http://www.macotakara.jp/blog/index.php?ID=11085) cited their own sources who said that Apple's LCD supplier was beginning to manufacture small glasses-free 3D LCD panels for the iPod Touch, though they suggested it might involve user head-tracking to accomplish the effect..

Guys and Girls,
That clearly is not a Black Macbook Pro there, unless there coming out with 13.3 inch Macbook Pro's then it is a Macbook. This could mean that we will be seeing an upgraded Macbook (Pro / Non) introduced monday most likely with the Core 2 Duo mobile. Also, in the picture, it really looks like it has a backlit keyboard. If it does, I will be waiting for that to ship before I buy my Macbook.

lol, who cares, got the extra 1gb for waiting. Are you unhappy because you got your prediction of "NOT going to happen, it's going to be next year" wrong?
Not at all. I've had predictions go wrong before, so this is nothing new to me. But it just annoys me that some people are so concerned with getting the best computer at the moment when it'll only be the best for a few months at best, and in the case of the MacBook, isn't even the best.
