I, too, have a number in the range affected but am getting turned down by the website. Interestingly, when I changed the last letter of the serial number I entered from "a" to "b," it was accepted! I am wondering whether in fact not all batteries in the range are being recalled and Apple is just doing a bad job of communicating (as someone on Macintouch suggested).

Apple needs to do something fast, beause virtually forcing schools across America to take on Macs and whining that Microsoft are big bullies isn't going to help them.
Sorry, i'm being a bit extreme, but i wish Apple would hurry up and do something.
PCs are the competition and releasing an update of a product every six months, while the competition is constantly updating, isn't going to work for them for much longer.
I am shocked to hear you say that "Apples exists to compete with PCs and one of, if not THE major element of that is having the best/fastest hardware!" Apple exists to make money, and part of that means competing with pcs. But again, the motivation is the need to make money, not to compete with pcs for the sake of competing with pcs. Not all users want more power, ease of use is more important than some. I merely suggested that this is a complex problem that requires serious marketing, not simple, uni-variable analysis (eg. faster= more market share). WHere do you consider all the factors of buying a computer? This is why you can never say which computer is "best" At work my pc is tons better than a mac, because I can run ProEngineer (a solid modeling program). At home, my mac is best, because of imovie, itunes, the os, and .mac, etc
Why do you want apple to "hurry up and do something"? You can buy a pc if you want to.

I am seriously thinking of getting out of Windowsworld and the new 24" iMac looks great!:D
From the listed specs this will really rock.
Anybody have advice on whether I should wait for Leopard to come out or not?
Get one if you need it now.
Bottomline is, when Leopard comes out, there will a cheaper/better Mac. But that's just the way it is with technology.

If Apple is selling tons of products, in a market with plenty of competitors, how can they be not competitive? 9.3% of buyers in the USA decided that for their money, a Mac is the best computer they can find.
They're not competitively priced. I wouldn't argue that they're not a competitive brand (HW,SW, marketing...appeal factor)...of course they are :)

I don't recall massive outcry from the devs on those other platforms. Why do you think that is?
So he thinks he's a rockstar programmer and should act like one. I think it's just ridiculous. So in the end the application was given to someone else to continue and nothing changes. So is this 2 seconds taken from his fame or what?
The Apple Application review process is going to be the topic for turmoil now? So after Apple is beat down, who is next to rise and beat on then. It's all becoming really insane to me. It's nothing more than flavour of the month reporting and debating to be all.

This would be a most welcome addition! (well if they did it in the UK too..).
If they managed to make them so you didn't have to download the whole OS each time there was a tiny tiny update then even that would be more fun (whether it be wireless or via itunes as it is now).
It's just annoying having to wait a good hour on my ridiculously slow internet to download updates :(

Yup, my iBook's battery is affected. Shame, it hadn't really run out of juice, even though I've been running my laptop 24/7 (lots of sleep though) in the year I've had it (running off of the mains a lot though):

Any "bug fixes" actually listed out?
Well the graphical issues on the iPod touch 4th gen are fixed. I'm afraid I didn't look through everything.

Will this recall ever expire?
The reason im asking is that my 3k550 A1079 12" PB battery only has been through 18 battery loadcycles and still has 100% capacity according to cocounut battery...
Im wondering If I should get it replaced right now or wait untill my current battery starts running out of juice? What would you guys do?
edit: My pb warps every once in a while, could a new battery fix the problem?
My guess is that the recall won't expire. Apple can't deny someone a new battery because they 'didn't know' they had a bad battery and found out a year or so later. The previous recall from (someone said) 2005 is still valid. I'm sure in a year or so you'll want a new battery.
My battery falls within the parameters but my battery is fine. Full charge and does not get hot at all. As soon as I notice something I'll file for a new battery. Until then, I'll continue using my battery as normal.

...at this moment, it's not a problem most Mac users need to worry about. But blowing it off completely is sophomoric at best.
Yup. As others have said, this isn't an Apple specific problem, but its good to expose the flaws found and get them sorted. Nothing really to see here, move along.
Dang video keeps stalling on me. We much be flooding it with requests.

Whether or not Britain is the "most tolerant" country among a field containing some much worse, blacks (and Irish) were openly discriminated against, and certainly in the case of blacks, still are. Many in the UK would rather that the natives from their former colonies just remembered their place.
You're the stating the obvious, of course discrimination is happening in the UK, in every country it's happening but, it's undoubtedly less prevalent than in other nations.

It'll be $129 ? the same as ALL of the past upgrades except for Snow Leopard which was Leopard but just a slimmed-down, rewriting of the OS. Apple felt that without a lot of core new features being added, they would give the public a break and just charge a nominal fee for Snow Leopard, rather than the typical $129.
Don't listen to anyone who says differently. It will be $129.
It'll be cheaper if bought via the Mac App Store, just like Aperture is cheaper than the off the shelf, boxed version when bought via the Mac App Store.

If you think about it, it's not all too surprising that some of these "professionals" are getting so worked up and sulky over this release.
And who, exactly, are you talking about?
All I've seen are a few anonymous comments on this message board. Who are those people? Are they pros? I don't know who they are. Do you know?
Funny how you've developed a whole theory about "professionals" and yet you haven't proved in any way that any pros said what you claimed they said. I've read that the crowd at the show seemed to really love it.
So if you're going to come here and claim you've heard people saying the exact opposite of the news report then you really need to explain where you heard that and who was saying it.

Well I think the phrase significantly improved is a opinion.
Whether OSX been improved "significantly" or not (I notice you fail to offer an opinion of your own), any improvement is better than none, which is precisely how much improvement Windows users have been granted by Microsoft over the last five years. Again, we're being led to be believe that this is somehow a superior state of affairs. I don't know who buys this argument, but I sure as hell don't.
