People of low socioeconomic status are much more likely to be exposed to and take part in violence
http://www.apa.org/pi/ses/resources/publications/factsheet-violence.aspx
http://www.jstor.org/stable/2580520?seq=22
Blacks are disproportionately low-SES individuals. Then the question would be why are blacks more likely to be low-SES individuals, since that would explain the increased likelihood of violence.
There appear to be two options. First, if equal opportunity is assumed, one conclusion would be that blacks are inherently unable or unwilling to take advantage of those opportunities to collectively improve their SES. The second option would be that the opportunities are not actually equal.

In the process of moving so my setup is located squarely on my coffee table. Will post new pic once I am moved into my new place and set up the office.
Not shown in photo is the mountain of boxes just to the left.:D
Are those guinea pigs in the 'cage' on the right? I love guinea pigs, as you can probably tell.... ;) My actual avatar is of my brother's guinea pig. She's about 3/4 years old and such a cutie :D

A welcome feature. What about AT&T?
The article seems to imply that perhaps ATT has already agreed, hence why Apple is negotiating with Verizon at this point.
I'm not certain though as the article fails to mention ATTs role, if any, at all.

an update with speed increases that they'll never even notice
You know exactly what every MBP purchaser does with their hardware do you?
I would notice the upgrade. A LOT.

* Microsoft Windows 2008R2 SP1 is great.
* Microsoft App-V and Med-V both works amazing.
* Windows 7 isn't that bad either (though I HATE that glassy Windows look.)
Kinect?

I've got crap eyes but 3D works fine for me. I'd so be up for this, infact it'd push me to actually buy an iPad.
Love the 3D display on my 3DS. I don't like going back to 2D displays now (at least on gadgets/toys).

I like the hardware buttons on the classic because I can press them through my pocket when I am working. When I gave my classic to my sister and used my touch while I was working, it was a pain to have to pull it out of my pocket to change the song or play/pause. I liked the easy volume change buttons on the touch though. But still the touch buttons are too close together and half the tie I restart the song instead of pausing it.

this made my day. little things like this go a long way for a companies user base. Reminds me of Pixar's stint for a little girls dying request to see the movie (http://www.justpressplay.net/movies/movie-news/5530-pixar-grants-dying-10-year-olds-wish-to-see-qupq-before-she-dies.html)
Wow, puts things in perspective.

I do hope if they are going to up the megapixelage for marketing purposes, they at least give us more memory in the base configuration to handle all the extra space the photos are gonna waste.
Unless of course Sony has secretly created the greatest sensor in the history of the world and the 8MP can be justified. That would be nice.
+1
We need 64GB as an option here.
8MP would be nice but I hope it's gonna be a good quality sensor as well.

Yes, I like to have it all with me.
I listen to music for 9 hours a day when I'm at work and used to get frustrated with my old 60GB iPod photo because I only had half of my collection with me. I've had my 160GB classic since 2007 and I'm now down to my last 5GB of free space.
A new 220GB classic in September would be perfect timing. :D
I guess we will have to agree to disagree on the music/iPod thing, as I listen to my iPhone for 8+ hrs a day and find 5200 songs overkill. I will agree with you on this; if I had all the money I'd spent on drink, I'd spend it on drink.
Cheers!

Seems a bit...Windows-y with all the tabs. Other than that, I quite like it. Very futuristic (I feel like I'm running like...[sorry for this comparison but it's the easieset one for me to make based on my computer history] Windows XP on some "high end" computer from 1996 while I have the iTunes 7 on my 12" PowerBook G4)

The current camera on the iPhone 4 is stellar IMO and many others... an equal 8MP camera would be even better....
Opinions are good things huh....
my iphone produces some ok photos but also produces a large volume of absolute shite ones.
The higher mp may not mean muhc, but hopefully they will be improving the optics/sensor while at it. The nokia n8 may be a fugly symbian^3 abomination, but the sensor combined with the carl zeiss optics produces some really nice photos, even in low light.
You can also use the hdmi out for flipping throuhg photos, and not just the fakin stupid slideshow like the hdmi adapter on the iphone4
Yeah, bring on Carl Zeiss. Those lenses work majic even on dedicated cams.

What does this mean?
http://www.macnn.com/blogs/?p=97
On August 22, the European Office of Harmonization published Apple?s latest trademark/service mark application number 005269221 for ?IMOVIE.? The European filing was prepared by Field Fisher Waterhouse LLP of London which notes no priority filing. However, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office officially lists Apple?s iMovie as a registered trademark under application number 2,723, 051 dating back to July 2003 in addition application number 75/782,838 officially registered in China dating back to August 1999. So what?s changed?
The difference in this new filing in contrast to Apple?s original filing is that the original filing only listed International Class 9 covering computer hardware and software whereas the new European filing lists additional International Classes 38, 41 and 42 which cover the following: communications and telecommunications services, entertainment and education services; provision of electronic publications (not downloadable); providing on-line electronic publications and computer hardware and software consulting services; rental of computer hardware and software apparatus and equipment.

I get iTunes error when I try to open iTunes 7 after installation. Don't know what to do.
Are you on Windows? If so, then do an uninstall, reboot and then reinstall.
Also, try uninstalling QuickTime if there are problems still.

"Will you still need me,
will you still feed me
when I'm sixty-four?"
Most people will probably be in the Heather Mills camp and give an enthusiastic, Hell, no!
My admiration of The Beatles has faded over time, and I suspect that I am not alone. Nevertheless, I hope that Apple can work this deal out so that those who still care can get access to their favorite music on the best device out there.

My $129 dollar investment in Leopard is going to look like even more of a steal ... :D
Especially for those who think that they're going to get Aero for peanuts.
The super duper Vista Ultimate which has Media Center tools along with the Aero 3D GUI and extra security technology will cost a whopping $449.
I'm well aware that the majority of people are going to get Vista when they buy new machines next year or so, but which of these versions are they going to get?

The only thing interesting in the above is the "64". I suspect it doesn't just mean "64 bit Intel chips in the Mac Pro and Xserve", but probably also relates to Leopard. If Leopard does have significant support for 64 bit addressing spaces etc, I wonder if that'll be on both the G5 and the ia64 versions?
Minor nitpick. I believe ia64 stands for the Itanium architecture not the 64-bit version of x86 architecture. EM64T is then name for the x86-64.
