Glad they fixed it, but that kind of thing should have never been allowed to exist in the firstplace.
Why do you think that's such a huge bug? Do you know the account name on my computer? I don't know yours, either. Not only that, you would have to share your computer's files (something you have to do yourself) then open port 548 for the world to see through your router.

A certain company is trying to shift product udpates away from major Expos. They've found that the lack of orders directly preceding an expo, as well as the expo dates not agreeing with major edu buying schedules have made this a bad idea.
You can expect to see new software releases at all Apple expos, and sometimes product introductions, but I think that will be it in the future.
This allows for a more consistent sales pattern, and keeps you guessing as to when updates arrive.

Right, I have been wondering of getting lenscoats for my lenses (at least the ones that I can get them for), not for camouflage but for actual protection. I have seen them in action and sometime the lenses just take a hit or two and that neoprene neatly takes the hit. They make them in black which is what suits me best. BUT the question is does anyone else use them? Are there alternatives since they are pretty pricey and from the looks not quite 100% fitting.
Someone also suggested camo form tape which also absorbs the hits, albeit less so, but is a helluva lot cheaper.

How likely is it that Apple is holding back the groundbreaking new features or GUI changes?
I myself think there won't be any GUI changes from the developer version, but maybe some new features that make people go "wow".
As I am new to the Mac I would like to know what's the experience with previous Mac OS launches. Does Apple wait for the final version with the big changes?

True... unfortunately, I'm not sure what's possible, so I don't really know!
I should imagine the G5 could act as some kind of central storage for the other Macs for iTunes, Photographs etc - but that's just some kind of glorified NAS box. I'm just curious at this point really, how else could it be used?

Email, faxes, instant messages, documents, and alerts pop on and off automatically, but are controlled by the user. Because there is so much screen landscape, the desktop doesn't have a cluttered feeling.
They pop up automatically, but are controlled by the user? Like pop-up ad's? Bad idea if you ask me. I like the notifications in the dock with iChat and Mail. The icon changes, and they can make a sound whenever a new message is received.
As for that much screen landscape, I think it would be hard to control that much space. If you needed it for really big spreadsheets or for tons of tools for designing or creating videos, I can understand, but having to lift the mouse up 5 times just to get from one side of the screen to the other, and turning your head 45? to view the whole thing seems a bit over-done.
Apple is making widescreen standard. Unfortunately, in a bizarre move, microsoft seems to be taking Apple on with the whole wide-screen thing, and they seem to be going over-board. I wonder if they will give you coupons for free neck adjustments at your local chiropractor?
Oh well. In 5 years, I'll probably still be using a Mac...

I'd be more impressed with a simpler product that would just velcro to the airplane seat in front of you so you could watch hands free on a plane. Hey... a freebie idea for these guys! :-)

i actually use iXoft from TT, it actually pretty much cools down my MBP so far, i could tell that it at least lowers the temp by 2 - 3 degree

It?s because all 2011 iMac will be eligilbe for upgrade to Lion for free, or at least with discount, maybe $29 only via Mac App Store so they can directly check who eligible for one and who?s not. If you want to get the shiny retail box, it may cost $129.
That should be it .. so I wouldn?t worry too much about Lion, let?s hope I?m not wrong okay :D

People come to forums such as this for help and to complain. Rare is it that someone logs on to post "My iMac works perfectly and I am 100% satisfied."
But for me, that is exactly the case. My iMac is perfect and I am 100% satisfied with it. It was, other than my iPhone 4, my first Apple product, and as you can see from my sig I have bought a whole lot more. In fact I will be getting a second iMac to replace the last Windows XP machine in my home so that we can now be windows free. Other than my 3 laptops provided to me for my job. Yuck! :p

I have a Dell laptop now with a 30gb drive and have barely 5gb filled. I don't think having a 40gb in my iBook will be a big problem.
An external drive would be nice because I would like to share files between computers.

If you're a fan of the old command and conquer series, they released Red Alert. It's pretty cool to play on a touch device. Graphics are good too. Gameplay is not as crisp as the original so I'm hoping for a new C&C to come out. It's still worth the $4.99.
