Honestly? I think the ENTIRE desktop line (iMac, Mac Mini, etc.) would probably get this before a laptop would get it. :(

Very recently I was given a new MS Windows laptop at work. It is a HP EliteBook 8440p laptop. Keep in mind that I knew nothing about the laptop before it was given to me. I am looking at it and thinking, great I was given another low budget laptop to use at work. From the appearance, it looks like a $500 laptop that was built in the 1990's. After doing some digging, this thing is $1300 the way it is configured (starts at $900; Yes, I know this is the MSRP). Talk about a tax that is out of control.
It has basically a unusable trackpad, too small and because the laptop is so thick uncomfortable after several minutes of use. I ended up hooking up a mouse.
I love all the extra lights on it, one for the hard drive status, two for power status, two for WiFi status, one for the trackpad status, three for the volume. I also love the inovative way that HP decided to lightup the keyboard, a popout light on the screen frame. Maybe the lack of a lighted keyboard would have drained the 4 hours battery too quickly that is included in this $1300 laptop.

If Boot Camp is supposed to be one of the biggest new features, where is identification of it on the poster?
I see on the Far Left Top corner 'Universal' but not boot camp. I finf this strange.

We won't see Apple embracing run-in-place Windows apps on OS X. It just involves TOO MUCH TESTING! (Heck, OS/2 actually ran a copy of Windows, and it was flaky at running Windows apps.)

The guys at Bungie have finally posted ALL of the playlist changes that are coming tomorrow (Oct. 5, 2010). Mostly just reorganizing of playlists and things like that, but some gametype adjustments as well. So, if you had something that was bugging you, check the list and see if it has been addressed. They've said that a more comprehensive update will be coming later in the month, but this should clean up much of the early quirks and problems. Here is the full list....

In short, this confirms that iOS 5.0 will now have incremental updates, which is similar to how Microsoft updates Windows with incremental updates. Apple should have done this when iOS 4.0 came out, though....

Bit of a u-turn considering his last blog post in august stated "No matter how annoyed I get, I will not stop developing for Apple's platforms or using Apple's products as long as they continue to produce the best stuff on the market."!
Also, as I think others have mentioned; the approval process has not changed since he started iPhone development... I understand his frustration at having to wait for approval, but iPhone development has always been this way, and it's the same for all developers it's nothing new... Odd why he's decided to throw his toys out the pram now?
Oh well, it's a shame he's quit since it serves no purpose other than to abandon support to his own users :(

One thing that strikes me...... doesn't this cause some confusion since Intel uses the "Core 2 Duo" name for both the mobile Merom chips and the desktop Conroe chips? Not that most consumers would know the difference anyway, but it seems like people see "Core 2 Duo" in the desktop iMac, and the assumption would be that it would be the same "Core 2 Duo" processor found in other desktops, not the mobile version.
Shouldn't the Conroe CPUs run at higher frequencies than the CPUs used in the iMacs?

I have an almost 9 month old boy. He was using the iPad to play games by 6 months of age. The iPad *IS* one of his favorite toys and with it's education and entertainment potential, is certainly a good investment. I need to go because he's about to attack my keyboard. I'll give him the iPad to play with :)

What Apple needs to do is come out with a dedicated device. Integration seems the only way they can push into another market at this point. (Shades of MS Windows with [insert anything here.] integration.)
What Apple needs to do is form an alliance with E-Reader / Peanut Press and having it integrate with iTMS. Then come out with an e book reader that uses digital ink. This is the tech that can paint a screen then cut power to the screen yet still have the image remain. In cases such as this we are talking WEEKS of battery life. Use digital ink + Apple's standard design flare + iTMS and I can guarantee people will eat it up.

It's used everywhere from text books in schools, to training manuals, to maintenance manuals, to entertainment in the home, to entertainment while you are sitting waiting for the dentist. In short I would sell my first, second, third born sons, and cut off a pinky toe for Apple to release an e-book reader. This is Sony's attempt:

Yes but it does clearly state Core 2 Duo in the product name and the release date of 13th November, they could have just copied the spec of the existing one as they are unsure of the new spec. What is telling is the date, they obviously expect it to happen on the 13th
